Every life is on it's own path. We are all taking different paths to arrive.
ENLIGHTENMENT IS YOUR INHERENT NATURE. LIFE DREAMS ARE HIDDEN BY THE CLOUDS OF HISTORY. WITH ONE MIGHTY BREATH THE SUN IS VISIBLE.
Anxiety is an existential fact of life and not a symptom. It is an energy that reminds you to stop holding on to illusions.
Anxiety can stop us in our tracks. Sweating, heart palpitations, brain fog and an overwhelming sense of dread can be crippling. One of the biggest steps in not only managing but ending anxiety and panic is to deeply understand that these symptoms are not happening to us. Anxiety is being afraid of fear and running at all costs except you can't get away from yourself. How you keep it in place is a big part of the learning journey.
The difficulty and darkness of depression belong to your inner spirit's desire for freedom from an egotistical world view.
Depression (along with anxiety) is the number one symptom not only in clinical settings but in our society as well. There are so many false standards that are impossible benchmarks. If you aren't successful with money, power and sexuality then you are losing at the game. If you are playing the "be a somebody" game then your sense of self is lost to winning at all costs or you are are courting failure. Letting go of perfectionism and getting to know what makes you happy take a person a long way on the road to peacefulness.
We live in communities seeking communication and desiring communion. Every moment we are in relationship to our world.
Addiction in any form starts from the needs of a false sense of self. This wonderful creation called you is always wanting and crying out in need. When the pain is avoided or denied then the wanting is quenched by the quickest path to pleasure. Unfortunately the pleasure demons will replace and overtake the ability to delay gratification.
An important part of learning is appreciating the world of difference between pleasure and happiness. The ability to be happy is available to all of us. It is our nature.
Many people want to know what is the point of this strange world we live in. How do we find our solid being in the face of reality.
I know but I just have to say it, "Denial isn't a place in Egypt." With that out of the way, denial of our inherent nature is the root of all suffering. This clarity of the Buddhist teachings is one of its most profound insights. In our daily lives we know we live in a state of denial of our health. Whether it is exercise, diet and nutrition or any other lifestyle choice we know what is important and it gets brushed aside. Most importantly, we live in a state of illusion as to who and what we are. If our chosen life path is rewarded, then we stay lost in our illusions. Through suffering we have an opportunity to take the path of wisdom and reduced suffering.
We all want love and intimacy. Intimacy in committed, long-term couples is heart-felt connection and openness.
Make a fist and squeeze as hard as you can. Within a minute your forearm will be in pain. If you are able to continue tightening through the pain, eventually your arm will become numb. You won't be in pain any longer but you will not have awareness of your arm. This society makes us all "up-tight" and numb. We go about the rote tasks of living and have forgotten the pain. Just remember if you are suffering emotionally, physically and spiritually then the blessing is that you are not numb. Use the pain to learn and grow.
We need a healthy body to support inner growth. Likewise without quiet and contacting the mystery of being, we will never feel stable.
In the midst of the beauty and wonder of this grand mystery called living, we are always trying to find the meaning of our place in this world. Likewise, we forget that our meanings that we live by are social and cultural inventions. We fight to defend these inventions that have nothing to do with our happiness. Meaning defined this way is the result of an end game that tries to take away uncertainty. On the other hand, emotional and psychological health is best served by how we choose to live rather than definitions of living. Our beauty of living comes not from defining life but by deeply immersing ourselves in the mystery.
