Enjoyment

Have you ever noticed that when you feel centered within and open to the world outside of you that joy follows effortlessly. Enjoyment is a by product of our intentional being and the choices guiding our actions. We will never find joy when searching for that elusive something outside of self. To enjoy is to en-join.

In joy we come together with others and within ourself. We more easily learn to communicate when enjoyment is present because it comes from the same root word as communion and the gathering represented as community.

In joy we are not splintered with thought. We do not have to rationalize or inquire into our state of mind. In joy we do not have to question our state of mind like we do with the maladaptive avoidances often mistaken for pleasure. Joy represents the feeling of balance between self and other.

To have joy one must learn to balance our "comings and goings", the necessary cycles of approach and withdrawal with the world. If I take your hand you feel my warmth, love and the contact of coming together. If I don't let go of your hand you experience my imposition. All that we desire and love we must let go of in order to experience the renewal of nurturance.
